Serenwilde is actually far less 'snuggly' than I anticipated, which is lovely. I don't like being pounced, licked, etc, because it's not enjoyable to have someone do it to your character and it basically be 'you tolerate this now and you have to either react or ignore it!' It's possible to be sweet without being silly, and I think most people in Seren accomplish it. There are a few exceptions. You know who you aaaaaare.
Wildeflower Aramel Strongleaf says to Xiran, "My cousin's attitude to life is rather like her attitude towards cake - to have everything, and at once, and lots of it."
I wish more of Serenwilde embraced its darker side. It definitely has one, even if it's not as dark as Glom. I rave every single time I meet somebody who doesn't think we need to be happy bunny rainbow stuff. Even pixies can be snarky.
Mayor Steingrim, the Grand Schema says to you, "Well, as I recall you kinda leave a mark whereever you go."

So much this. This was my intention with haughty Elfen Llewell and then snarky badgerkin llewell, to try and be icy and angry towards outsiders. It just never caught on.

Alright, I've probably made too many of these but I've had a lot of fun in the month that I've been playing this game and I think people deserve more raves. I had a partial list of people typed up with all the different reasons I wanted to thank them but I decided not to do it because I know I'll have missed many, many people who deserve to be mentioned. Instead, I'll give a collective rave to everyone I've interacted with because 99.99% of interactions I've had have been positive. You know who you all are! Thank you for everything!
It was always the furry races that did the licking in Seren IIRC. That's not to say all people who play furry races are bad, there are
some awesome ones in the forest, especially a few lobo tribal warriors. But Serenwilde for a long time attracted a lot of the wrong kind of
furry people. The percentage of elfen players in the forest has gone up over the last few years, or at least it seems that way to me. And in general, elfen players at least try to live up to the high fantasy elven tropes. They may love fluffy bunnies just as much as the furries, and even the oldest grumpiest druid seems perfectly ok with hugs, but don't cross one, or you'll find out what the word 'eco-terrorist' means.
I'm reminded of the flavour text from and old elf MtG card: "One bone broken for every twig snapped underfoot."

It's something I will be working towards, (not snarky, just... not fluffy, I guess) but I have the intention of developing as a character rather than just changing one day. Seren def gives people plenty of reasons to be darker and colder. I think perhaps some people just want to play that fluffy, sulky, child-like character so much that the atmosphere of the org will get ignored in favour of their own personal gratification. In many ways that's okay, you do you and all.

My Celestine has been fairly interesting so far. I absolutely love some of the messages from pledging to Supernals. There's just so much role play potential behind that. I kind of wish I knew what the DL messages were like in terms of pacts/deepbonds by comparison. If anyone has those, I'd appreciate it so I can see what they're like. Even though I still really want to bash Celestia, I have less of a desire to do so now. The Supernals are pretty cool.

Wait, you were Llewell, @Shaddus? I really loved Llewell.
I feel like this is the reaction to pretty much all of his characters at some point or another, provided they last more than a week. Some of mine, too, but that won't stop me from retiring them if I'm able, because I don't play them anymore for a reason.

Don't get me wrong. "Snark" definitely isn't the flavour of the org. (Looking forward to seeing what I can from your character, btw) What I mean is even from the brightest and playful of Fae, you can find some nasty things.
EDIT: And that is what makes Seren effing amazing.
Mayor Steingrim, the Grand Schema says to you, "Well, as I recall you kinda leave a mark whereever you go."
Thank you all! You're all wonderful, too! I know the Serenwilde admin team - @Maylea, @Lisaera, and I - are definitely doing our best to make Serenwilde as great as it can be: with Maylea's work ethic, Lisaera's direction, and to whatever I add. We're all so happy to play with such creative people!
re: Serenwilde's "dark side," I will say that I think this is something the three of use have slowly shifted Serenwilde toward. Though there is certainly melodrama, there is also a seriousness that underpins our atmospheric changes. There are so many stories we are trying to tell: from Adasser and Caedir - Maylea and Lisaera's brain child; Tokota and Adushoc; Isotta's role in the forest; Lisaera and blood magic). Hopefully, we will be able to build on that more in the months to come!
To echo @Hoaracle, I rave to him and @Maylea constantly about the positive responses we've received after implementing some of our "darker" ideas. Truthfully, Serenwilde has always been primed for this sort of creative exploration of nature. Our united philosophy is that the forest is as feral as it is beautiful, and we truly love how open to interpretation this idea is.
It is a common trope in the fantasy world to think of the forestal organization as the "home of the snugglies," but Lusternia is a little different. Just try to tell the Bandrui that she's a cutesy froggy, for example, and check out some of my Order's more menacing rituals. Even our once cuddly elfen guard has grown into a strong and honourable Serenguard. Sure, our pixies giggle and smile at passersby, but the fae certainly have a mean streak. Remember how terrible they were when their Queen wasn't in control, even for a short time?
We encourage you all to continue exploring these aspects of Serenwilde with us! And I'll reiterate how incredibly talented @Maylea and @Hoaracle are. We each fill a major position, and our trifecta truly makes building things for you enjoyable. Maylea's constant drive and unmatched behind-the-scenes talents pair nicely with Hoaracle's insanely brilliant additions to any of my ridiculous ideas. Without them, I'm just a silver girl in a pretty dress, and I am so happy to have them.
Anyway. That got too real. Crone wrath, zaps for all, fire and brimstone, witchcraft, goodbye.
If Serenwilde can just fully embrace the whole 'forest of winter', bitter, pissed at everyone for screwing up royally during the Taint Wars attitude, they'd be in a far better place.
Ithaqua from Imperian is how I wish, so desperately, that Serenwilde was. It's a bitter forest council in the tundra that practices cannibalism and makes weapons from the bones of their enemies. Ithaqua was hardcore. Serenwilde can be too, as part of the pieces are in place, but I think a few things hold it back.
I love playing in Serenwilde. I remember when I first started there, that as a novice I was hit on by the person helping me with the collegium tasks, was constantly glomped and licked and snuggled by complete strangers - so I picked the grumpiest, gruffest mentor (<3 @Turnus ), armed myself with a dagger and threatened to stab anyone that touched me.
Coming back the vibe has changed dramatically. I'm sure people lump me in with the 'snugglers', but HMPH I say, there is a difference between being joyous as Delsea is, and being a fluffy love humper. She is definitely a bit silly and whimsical and dances and twirls a lot. But try to hug her randomly or be an idiot and see how cute she is
There's a lot to be said about having fun! Serenwilde, I have a lot of fun there. I can be a bit silly and not be hated for it. It's an awesome contrast to my super bitchy proper other character. People are supportive, you aren't shouted at for trying and sucking, every effort is encouraged and rewarded, the divine are superb in giving us interactions and depth. @Maylea randomly gave me a white carnation during the greathunt, whispering that it represented luck. How cool is that? Miakoda and Adasser will regularly join in with conversation at the nexus (Miakoda even danced with me once!), divine mobs (looking at you Shashi and Mahin) will pop in just to chat...and no one sits and mocks it, or bitches out the divine that appear. They join in. Someone decides to host a ritual? You can guarantee most everyone who is around will happily contribute. It's a fantastic environment. I get the vibe there isn't for everyone, but I find it overwhelmingly positive.
I have nothing but positive memories of serenwilde. Talnaras remain one of my most favorite families ever. But still, it's not like the reputation didn't exist or anything. Nonetheless, it's not appropriate for raves.

That's fair. I guess I never put 1 and 1 together on the whole "licking" thing. Havastus used to do it, until he got yelled at by someone because they though he was hitting on them. I have him lick folks as he's Loboshigaru, and that's what most of the dogs that I've ever met do when they enjoy someone.
However, I've since switched over to having Hava nuzzle if he's feeling affectionate or what-have-you. I guess that's a bit less inappropriate?

A bit. Though I'm now reminded that I got my first in-game husband on my first character because I was curious about the PROWL emote, and emshow didn't exist at the time.
