  • I'd like to say thank you to the Admin for how Pyrochemantic's AB files are done. They are very informative, pretty much exactly like how AB files should be written.

    Tradeskill Envoy please.
I'd like to see envoys around various specialisations not necessarily relating to class mechanics and PK.

Or at least the option to submit reports each month on other topics that don't take up your guild slot.

The divine voice of Avechna, the Avenger reverberates powerfully, "Congratulations, Morkarion, you are the Bringer of Death indeed."

You see Estarra the Eternal shout, "Morkarion is no more! Mourn the mortal! But welcome True Ascendant Karlach, of the Realm of Death!

  • I'm a little late to this but I agree that with lusternian combat being sooooo complex, which is great but also a little daunting, having more explicit ab files would be helpful and while time consuming, wouldn't be terribly difficult.

You could even farm it out to relevant guilds for suggestions and make it that much easier.

For example Midkemia has their normal ab files with flavour and all that jazz for ab x y. But you can put in ab x y full for a more detailed explanation.

An in game system that explains the many many afflictions we have a little more would be very helpful. I'm sure there isn't a single person, god or mortal who hasn't asked that the heck does x do. You could do it through whatcures or a help file or a new command like waitwut? or IJustDiedToWhat!?!?! or OMGWhatsWrongWithMe

Making this stuff more accessible will help new and old alike.

  • If you're looking for accessibility a queue system would be awesome, if it tracked different balances and you could add things to it. Would allow anyone to create themselves a simple system if it tracked different balances and allowed you to queue up actions and remove actions from the queue. Always seemed silly to me that you had to have a system to track this stuff for you, though they'd always be the best to optimize it.

Ones that would be awesome are ones that tracked for a queue system:
    EQ/Balance
    Able to Sip health/mana/ego
    Able to use curatives/purgatives
    Able to use Herb balances

    Actions that would be cool:
Add to end of each queue
Add to beginning of each queue
    Remove from each queue

Stratagems already exist for a balance/eq queue.

We gave this idea a trial run with the pyrochemantics AB files so I'd be interested to hear your feedback.

I disagree that it is an easy task, though. I spent almost a full day working on those and pyrochem is one of our better documented skillsets. It's something we are willing to look at, but it is a huge project.

From what I've read myself and talking to others, they've definitely had a positive reaction.

If you're planning a complete rewrite project of the AB files, would it be worth delegating a good portion (especially class skills) to the envoys? Or alternatively make it a volunteer project, just to do rewrites and submit them to the admin for approval. I think we all certainly want this game to be more new player friendly, and doing what we can to help by explaining things from a player PoV might be a big help.

  • I'd be willing to write up ABs for my skills.

Sorry, I meant that more along the lines of not having to re-code the game from scratch, not that it wouldn't be time consuming. There are 28 guilds, buckets of terts and that doesn't even include trade skills.

I'll make a new thread where people can post their suggestions for flushed out ab files. That way you guys will have something to work off to make it a little easier on you.

We'd much rather you do fun stuff than slog through AB files!

Eh, envoys/players can write up the wording, but the actual mechanics are better left up to Iosai and co. instead of having envoys test each skill ever and figure out the effects themselves. Much faster that way.

I like the Pyrochemantics AB's though.

I mentioned it in the Pyrochem thread, but the Pyrochem AB files are exactly what is wanted. They're great.

Oddly enough, I don't have any pyrochemantic alts. Someone mind posting one of these new AB's here, so I can understand what we're talking about?
Everiine said: The reason population is low isn't because there are too many orgs. It's because so many facets of the game are outright broken and protected by those who benefit from it being that way. An overabundance of gimmicks (including game-breaking ones), artifacts that destroy any concept of balance, blatant pay-to-win features, and an obsession with convenience that makes few things actually worthwhile all contribute to the game's sad decline.
