This series of events has been the first time I've experienced a fond feeling as a player watching the excited younger generation all invested and determined while old grey Xiran dodders a bit. I guess I'm an oldbie now! It's nice to be around such infectious youthful energy.

Announce Post #3336: August Treasure Hunt

Whether you are an accomplished explorer or only starting out, this upcoming Horizon Walkers treasure hunt is for you. It will focus only on locations in the Basin of Life and will not be as challenging as a Nature Trial would be, but serves as great practice for one!

Date: 26th August, 3pm GMT

Rewards:

1st Place - 200 credits + reskinned Silver Compass of True Directions
2nd Place - 150 credits
3rd Place - 100 credits

All participants will have until the end of the following week after the hunt (3rd September inclusive) to pick up the hunt item and complete the treasure hunt. Everyone who completes the treasure hunt will be rewarded 2000 aethergoop (including for those who place) and their hunt item will transform into one of the collectables. If you missed the previous ones, this will be your chance to catch up on those and maybe even pick up something much older if you have all of them already.

Thank you, Wilde, for the big turnout to comedy improv night at the Woodbine Lyceum (SERENWILDE NEWS #5629). And a special thanks to our volunteer actors Huskii, Hyirah, Kaneyu, Mani, and Sethos! And Xiran for the lavish gifts. Lots of hilarious moments, though the log only shows the 'winning' skit, "The Beekeeper's Apprentice". Expect to see another event like this soon (at a different time of day). With all these budding young actors, we might even scrape together a full production for the five-year submission!

Re: Family Honor replacement or update ideas

To throw in my two cents here, I love the idea of moving away from the family honour as a score on a giant scoreboard that doesn't serve much other purpose than a constant grind to avoid drowning, and moving toward something more along the lines of family honour as a resource/currency like essence, where it's earned and then used to purchase or unlock 'powers' for the family. Preferably this would be cool RP things usable by the family, as opposed to something that would affect combat or influencing or the like and turn it into another min/max grind.

As far as the question of any honour resets, I would lean towards simply converting over to the new system with current honour intact. Since it will be a question of roleplay elements, there won't really be any particular unfair advantage the more established houses will have over everyone else, and it would make sense that some of the ancient/historical/well established families would have a bunch of fancy stuff from the start anyway.

If Miakoda has taught us anything, it's that Goldie cares more for gold than is good for him. So when we heard that Goldie had lost a whopping sum of gold all throughout the Serenwilde, a band of determined wards, @Sethos Kaneyu and Mani, set out to find the gold before Goldie could. You'll thank us eventually, Goldie... yes, this is an intervention.

And then (unrelatedly? karma?) we were attacked repeatedly and pooped on by a very angry salt-encrusted seagull.

Announce Post #3334: Upcoming Family Honour Change

Posting on behalf of Ais who's leading the project:

Hey all. We have a pending change we're looking to implement and want to get player input on it. Family honour is what it is, players more involved than myself have waxed poetic here about it if you aren't clear on what's up.

We have a long term idea about how to improve the system. We'll go into that at a later date. In the short term however, we're looking to freeze and hide family honour entirely. This means no gain or loss, values are hidden, and eventually will be reset. Culture for family honour will also be ceased. The system stops existing entirely in the interim.

Because we know a lot of players are putting in hours to make it happen, we're looking to reward that effort during the freeze by providing a reward that will be implemented in the new system. While we're a bit fuzzy on specifics right now, the main points are as follows:

- The reward will primarily be roleplay-only and focused around family identity.
- There will be a level of customization available to the reward. How customizable will depend on how much honour you have at the time of the freeze. The brackets will be generous, so there is no need for a last minute grind.
- No upkeep to the reward.
- When the new system comes out and honour is reset, anybody family who received the reward will retain everything they've received as a head start.

Leave any questions, comments, concerns on the forums, where this post will appear as well, or in the #feedback channel on Discord. If nothing major is raised, we're looking to implement the freeze some time this week. The reward in question will be implemented some time after the freeze with no timeframe available at time of this post.
