    Just in the last two months, I was playing solo, on normal, and creepers took over my house, blew it up, blew me backwards, and I survived the explosions!... and landed in the lava, with all my iron equipment.

    Who cares how good you are, so long as you have fun.

    The correct* solution here is to coat your house in redstone controlled falls of glorious lava.
