    No it doesn't.  The only things that increase esteem gained are the Mask of Esteemed Beauty (Generates 25% more esteem for influencing denizens) for general denizens, for godrealm denizens a Truesermon will increase the amount gained and Mark of the Devoted Servant (Increases esteem by empowering your god's godrealm mobs by 20% - Pretty sure it needs to be attuned to a particular divine though)  Dunno about Storytelling "buffs" - When I tested it out recently there was no visible difference in esteem gain.
    Never put passion before principle.  Even if you win, you lose.
