You know, that's a good question.
Sometimes, I'll type a concept into Google translate and pick a random language (for instance, Pesukaru is apparently Estonian for Raccoon). Other times, I'll pick a lesser known character from a movie or book. Subotai was chosen from my favorite character in one of the Conan movies, who utters the (paraphrased) phrase, 'Give me food, that I may fight when the wolves come. Let me fall not from hunger, but in battle'.
Sometimes I just hit keyboard letters until it sounds right.
