Lusternia is my first ever MUD and I must say the lore and continually evolving story line are amongst the best I've come across in my history of graphic gaming.
I was about to start reading the third book when I (finally, derp) noticed the audio file at the top of the page and I'm so glad I clicked it! Listening to the audiobooks -> while questing in Newton -> productivity through the roof, yo. Not to mention you have such a great reading voice which really makes the characters come to life and the overall story much more enthralling (compared to the way it "sounds" in my head when I read it). Many thanks for putting in so much time and effort into making these!
Final edit: also, these are very professionally done: no background noises whatsoever! Did you use any specialized recording equipment for this?
I didn't, actually. I use a bog-standard microphone and Audacity. Luckily, Audacity's post-processing is amazing. I'm really glad you found it clear of background noise because often I felt like the quality wasn't quite sufficient
More importantly, welcome to Lusternia! I hope you continue to find things you really enjoy about the game - there are plenty more yet
Oh, and as an exciting side note: there are Things Coming regarding the future of the audiobooks. I am super excited about them and can't wait to unveil things for everyone. Watch this space for an announcement coming later in the month!
(After I am done with giant exam o' doom and moving house...)
So, I never did make an announcement, for various RL reasons too boring to list here. However, since it's Ascension, it seemed an appropriate time to...
...release this new book! It is the complete Vernal Wars, since there was no nice way to split it, so you get all of the wonderful goodness at once.
I would also like to warn you that it is much louder than the previous audiobooks because I am finally mixing things to be a sensible level - so if you've previously cranked things all the way up to be able to hear me, don't do that with this one! I will slowly be going back through the other books and remastering them all over the coming weeks.
So, the history of the vernal wars was the first one I've listened too. @Tacita, you rock . I'm going to download the rest and listen to them when I'm on the train to London tomorrow night.
It's short, it's sweet, and it's here! The Aftermath to the Vernal Wars is now available for your listening pleasure.
Thus ends the primarily prose section of the audiobooks. We progress now to the Chronicles of the Holy Celestine Empire, where the formatting deviates. Audiobook adaptations of these histories will involve a substantially different approach to the one I have used thus far, and so, are likely to take a lot longer (says the person who updates once every few months).
So, I hope you'll bear with me a little; I can promise Exciting Plans are afoot regarding the future of the audiobooks. They may just take a while.
These are so much preferable to having to strain my brain with actual reading. And makes for good listening for the hour plus commute I have everyday. You rock Tacita.
"Oh yeah, you're a naughty mayor, aren't you? Misfile that Form MA631-D. Comptroller Shevat's got a nice gemstone disc for you, but yer gonna have to beg for it."
The chronicles of the Holy Celestian empire were sadly left incomplete. The destruction of Old Celest is what followed from the project Cosmic hope as the pool of stars exploded spectacularly during the siege of Old Celest where Ladantine and Marilynth's forces clashed together and destroyed Old Celest, all of its guilds, the imperial army, Princess Marilynth and Emperor Ladantine with it.

The book of Xyl website has a audio book link to the Book of Book of Meridian.
Also the main website page that links to the audio books dosnt have anything listed on it at all: http://www.lusternia.com/audiobooks

I was so excited to discover this topic.
But I get the "can't find this user" message on Soundcloud.
Does anyone know if these files are still working anywhere, in chronological order?
Go into the actual webpage to listen to them.
eg
https://www.lusternia.com/cosmogenesis
then
https://www.lusternia.com/history-of-the-elder-wars
https://www.lusternia.com/book-of-dracnoris
The Audiobook link page doesnt work but they are embedded into the actual written page part.
