Descended from a mythical mortal who grew himself to near cosmic standards by right of spirit alone, his descendants have been known to take on nearly any forme or personality with near-to-no guidelines on what they look like. See that centaur dragon aquamancer? Probably a Shaddite.
If you ever become bored with your surroundings you may simply EMBRACE SPARK to withdraw yourself from the public eye for a year and become a nameless rogue, only showing up as 'Traveller' on all examples of WHO. During this time you will only be able to utilise your trade skills under a pen name, and when the year is over you may assume a completely new identity of your choice.
PERKS:
o Level 1: Discreet. Due to your inherited guile, creatures have a 5% chance to become pacified upon attacking you, not really sure if it is you that they are mad at or one of your kin.
o Level 25: Watchman. 1/13 universal damage buff.
o Level 50: Team Player: You can place esssence into any nexus of your choosing, so long as it is in its correct state. (i.e. fire essence MUST go into the Eternal Flame)
o Demigod: Trademaster: You are now so skilled at design and craft that every attempt to make one design will yield two, effectively doubling your output.
o Demigod+: All-encompassing: You no longer require a link to a nexus to use it's organisaitonal abilities so long as you are not linked to another. Go wild! (i.e. Can use Aeromancy as a rogue, but not if residing in any city but Hallifax)
We kind of had @Hoaracle shard into the wildewood in an alternate future sort of that we averted except time travel and now we can become wildewood but they are sterile.
Though it was more him turning already exisiting people into wildewoods than making an entire new race of shards.
I don't think anyone sharding is going to give you exactly what you want; based on histories, it would take a few generations (so quite a bit of in-game time) before that race would have deviated far enough from the group-mind to actually be individuals. What you're asking for would involve some time shenanigans.
I know that I, for one, do not really relish the thought of Xynthinlings running around everywhere.
Rifts from an alternate timeline open all over the planes. Squads of rampaging wombats swarm the planes, devouring almost anything they can eat. After a prolonged battle including forming wombat bait out of essence, all of the wombats are slain. Their droppings impregnate the Air and Fire Planes, causing Cloudberries and Black Lotus (stygian, the best!) To grow. The former reduces drunkenness and provides a bit of protection from fire, and the latter reduces timewarp and keeps you warm
Subotai takes them both and contrives new types of alcohol: bourbon and scotch.

I want to see an event where characters from Lusternian literature and theatre walk the streets and wreak havoc, but I don't actually know what majicks would cause such a disaster, nor what havoc literary characters could wreak. :-/

I mean, sure it's unlikely, but if you'd asked me last year I never would've guessed that we'd make an orbital ion canon. O:-)

Tonight amidst the mountaintops
And endless starless night
Singing how the wind was lost
Before an earthly flight
