Newb question about beasts (actually a couple)

Hello,

so I got this magnificent beast lately and I tugged it about, trying to learn it a few levels. Now, I wanted to train the beast, but I have no idea how it gains the 'trains' it needs. Suspecting it needs to mature completely before I can train it? Also, is there any available list of special reagents or similiar ? I read somewhere a beast can gain wings ?

In order to train a beast in a specific ability, you need the corresponding ability in Beastmastery. Note that you can buy a beast already trained, but you won't be able to use the abilities unless you have said ability in Beastmastery.

Next, in order to get enough "trains" to teach a beast an ability, you need to feed it beast feeds. There are 6 types of beast feeds, 2 of each trains body, spirit or mind.

Taken from HELP BEASTMASTERY:

  STATISTIC       REAGENT        FEED TYPE

    Body          Bodoru         Meat/Oats

    Mind          Mindoru        Fish/Vegetables

    Spirit        Suporu         Eggs/Fruit

Every 2 feed of the correct type you give it allows you to give it 1 reagent, which will then increase its "trains" by 10.

So if you want your beast to have 100 trains in Body, you need to first feed it either meat or oats 20 times, then you can give your beast 10 bodorus.

A beast can have 4 feeds in its feedbag at any one time. Every hour, it "eats" one.

Feeds are made by cooks, and can be bought from player shops.

Forgot where reagents come from, but also can be bought from player shops.

Something minor to note is that a beast gets the benefit of feed immediately on putting it in the feedbag. So if you have a starving beast and give it four oatfeed, you can immediately apply two bodoru and get 20 trains

I personally think this makes it easier to track what's happening, since you don't have to worry about what you fed your beast 3 hours ago. Just always feed in multiples of two, then administer 1-2 reagents of the appropriate type.

You can train a beast at any time, and even a newborn pony can be ridden in to battle after a few days/hours of feeding, because we are horrible people.

It's also worth noting that a beast's appearance is determined (through arcane magics) by the proportions of feed given, plus a healthy does of RNG. There's an automatic setting of this appearance at about 1 year old (maturity) and thereafter, you have to pay for it. As far as I know, though, this is based on feed only, not reagents/trains. So if you want a beast with 'mind' characteristics but a bunch of body abilities, train it quick and then force feed it veg/egg feed and hope for the best. I think animal feeds (meat/fish/eggs) produce 'darker' qualities (eg. Skeleton wings) while plant feeds (oat/veg/fruit) are 'lighter' (butterfly wings). YMMV, since it seems like appearance can be a crapshoot anyways.

Hey! thanks. Seems I just didn't understand the helpfile last night. Going to hunt through player shops later on.

Just wondered what all sort of mutations (such as wings) could be gotten for a beast.
