IIRC, it's not half night and half day. I think they're a couple of hours off with the night being shorter than the day, although it's been ages since I last looked at it, so I could be misremembering.
I THINK the day changes once an hour at the bottom of the hour, actually, so that noon is the top of the hour, but I'm not 200% sure on that. I haven't noticed the day/night cycle changing, but I wouldn't put it past the admin for it to be so, especially with the weather overhaul. That said, there are also perfectly valid reasons why it might not. (the Basin could be equatorial, or Lusternia [the planet] might be flat with the arc of the Sun literally being Father Sun running from end to end of the Basin).
The RL minute of the daychange varies a little bit; while it should, theoretically, stay exactly the same all the time, serverside lag could possibly add a few seconds or even a minute to a day every now and then. Thus, never assume that a new day starts at .25, or whenever the day starts right now.
Dear lord, let's not add landmarking... I still have nightmares about butchering and filling buckets of blood. Not to mention frantically running around catching butterflies...

Day changes are definitely not exatly one hour. I think they change every hour plus a few seconds, but it's very systematic (midnight is always drifting backwards every RL day).
Xiel's site has a mapping between exact Lusternian time and the more general "time of day" things you get when you don't have a watch (i.e. "It is dusk in Lusternia") I don't know the exact cutoff between night/day, but I assume it's one of those.

Oh, I didn't mean landmarking itself. I meant similar to its effects, ie a tangible direct change on the game's landscape. As a newbie in Glom, I kept seeing the day/night messages in purple text. @Narynth was amazing and took myself and @kraw around, explaining how a quest caused this, and showing us the counter. I found this awesome - players can change the land itself! Extending the duration of night seems like something in-line with that, and suiting for Glom.
Is there a way to see a simple affliction line for afflictions you have received? I know Aetolia was implementing something like this, and I've seen a few afflictions with a standardized line, but I'm not seeing it consistently.
'Night' doesn't kick in until around 7or 8pm game time if I recall, and 'day' is around 5-6am. I'd have to double check again but I think that's what I discovered while waiting to bond night and sun!

Did anyone get the sketchpad yet? How is decay/use handled for the sketches inside? Do you need to seal them before you can add them? Are they effectively sealed when added, or just set to non-decay until you can use them, or...?
The sketchpad just stores things, and does not slow down decay. You can use sketches without taking them out of the sketchpad, but it only really works with sealed sketches- if you need more than one sketch of the same thing, it doesn't recognize that you have the others in your possession.
I'm Lucidian. If I don't get pedantic every so often, I might explode.
How do I pick my side for the aetherepic? I completed the last quest to start it, got a tell, got an invitation when I followed up on it. That only gave me the instructions for the gnome side, though. Am I also supposed to get a similar invitation from the Gnafia so I can pick, or do I just start off on Cankermore and do the wrong faction if I want to go for scourge?
Any sufficiently advanced pun is indistinguishable from comedy.
Ah. But it can store sealed sketches too? That's nice to know.

I think it would be nice if the sketchpad would make blank sketches permanent so I don't have to go craft them on-demand (I have no desire to seal blank sketches for future use), at least.
First time crafting a book, whats a good rule of thumb as to the number of words/characters/lines per page? I don't want to make it overwhelming all on one page.
One thing to note is that books have a shorter margin than the MUD in general. I believe it's 72 characters, but my last published book was a bit ago.
It's honestly best to translate "page" into "chapter" for the purposes of Lusternian publication, though. I think there's an upper limit to the number of lines, but unless you're writing epic poetry or transcribing a play, it can be tough to hit. Look for a natural break in the flow of the story for literary works, or for a particular topic or thought in scholarly works, and break it there. You should be fine.
For Wonder Items, what are the timing restrictions on their buffs? Some more specific questions:
1) Are buffs/resistances of the horn/pipe always "on", like a damage buff artifact? 2) The various buffs for the cornucopia all have the restriction of one hour. Is it unlimited use? Or only once per RL day? 3) What about the various pipe abilities, e.g. Hardsmoke, Smokeweb, etc.? 3a) (Assuming smokeweb is unlimited use), why would one buy spectacles of clairvoyance for 500 credits when you can usually get the same defense plus others with crystals?

Vive l'apostrophe!
so do the seasons change when night time and day time start?"
Or is it night and day always 30 mins each?
and does the day change on the hour, like at 2 clock and 3 oclock a new day starts?
