I'm mostly curious, for those who wouldn't mind sharing. Why are you where you are? What choices led you to being there, be they OOC or IC, or I wouldn't mind hearing both! Some people switch at whim, others have been in the same place forever. So, current (not past) settings, why are you there?! GO!

I've never regretted it.
Not many people can play a good villain, but I can, so I usually go the 'Evil' route.
It used to be because of the people, but for years I've spoken to non-Magnagorans vastly more often than citizens (on clans, for the most part as well). Being a peacekeeper/babysitter for all the city drama over the years took its toll perhaps.

You shock a platinum-coloured geomycus with tales of terror bestowed on villages who don't follow Magnagora.

Why did I stay? Some truly awesome people who taught me the roleplay and history, especially @Delphas . He sat me down and explained to me decorum and how to not get killed by my fellow citizens (ie respectful of rank and curtseying and the like), the demon lords, viscanti, noble houses, the taint.....and I was so intrigued. I loved the mix of the dark and evil with the culture of nobility and class (I still do, the whole we are evil but we are PROPER entertains me greatly). I was hooked. The guy who brought me over was not very bright and found himself disliked by important people, while I was diving with great glee into the role of grovelling serf, aspiring to be something someday.
I've thought of leaving a few times, when the environment in the city has been really unfun to play and filled with drama that is spilling over into ooc, but I can't envision Lavinya anywhere else. Her whole being is devoted to Magnagora and her worship to the Demon Lords and Morgfyre. Even leaving the Nihilists was such a monumental decision I never thought I'd justify, so loyal is she to her beliefs. I stay because I still love the lore, I love the history. I love being a haughty, pompous noble who has no qualms over killing innocents or slapping around her children, I love the lore and strong religious ties, I love the roleplay. I don't always love the people (some people think that the only way to play 'dark' is to be an asshole, not true) but some of them, especially lately, have been reminding me why I love being in the city with them, even if I'm not interacting with them. Lavinya will never leave, I may alt or take breaks, but Magnagora is where she'll stay, and where I always come back to.
