90% of our shifts, at any point, we are working alone. My coworker, yesterday, had someone come around the counter at her, calling her a f***ing c*** and telling her that "I am going to make you f***ing disappear, you little b****".
So, yeah. I do not feel safe at work. I work more alone-shifts than anyone else because I work evenings. I am not comfortable with that, at all.
I mentioned sometime last year that my roommate(who owns the house) has a former foster son who is about 20 and is mentally disabled. The kid does drugs and has cycled around getting kicked out of places and living on the streets. He was doing well in his group home until today when he got kicked out(presumably for stealing or drug use). My roommate decided to let him move in, despite stating several times previously that that would not happen(especially since he's 60, living on a fixed income, and not in the greatest health and doesn't have the energy to live with this kid).
I found this out after the fact as I got home from work tonight. I'm now going to be looking for other housing, as I will not live with this kid. I do not need my valuables or guns being stolen to support his drug habit.

I want to be productive and get back into things, but I can't figure out how to bypass the filters. I can access facebook, IRC, tumblr, all sorts of things, but I can't figure out how to get past the port block

If it's a block on all non-standard ports (80, 443, 113, 465, 993, 995), your best case is probably to pick up a cheap VPS (Linode, DigitalOcean, A Small Orange, several other providers that are but a google away) and set up a SOCKS4/5 proxy on a known unblocked port. I don't think Mudlet supports access through one, but I do know MUSHclient does. You can set it up via OpenSSH (which should come installed on any VPS image honestly). There's hundreds of guides on how to do it. Just keep it password-protected if you do so.

2003 doesn't work, but I was considering buying a new web domain (and was looking at A Small Orange as a possible hosting company) -- I'm not particularly fond of the namecheap changes and it expires at the end of this month. I use my personal computer at work so I can do what I want, and nobody minds what I do on my computer as long as I'm keeping an eye on my independently working students. For instance, there are currently 4 adults in this room and 2 students, both of whom are working diligently and quietly.
The problem is, all of the guides on how to do this stuff are also blocked by the filter. It's a school, not a company, so while I have teacher-rights and can get to some of the basics (I successfully got xkcd unblocked, lol) I

@Vionne: Really, unless you need to run a webserver, just run it on port 80. I guarantee that's unblocked because you're accessing the web currently.

Once you have a working VPS (you'll probably have to do this at home, honestly), you can SSH in (If you're on Mac, you should have SSH pre-installed and can use it via your terminal. If Windows, I suggest using PuTTY) and run the following command:

As with any psychiatric medication, take what your doctor gives you to see if it works- if it has unacceptable side effects, notify your doctor immediately. Some drugs you really shouldn't come down off of without your doctor's help. If what you have been prescribed does not take you to an acceptable mental place, go back to your doctor and ask to try something else. Psychiatric medicine is, unfortunately, not a terribly precise science and it can take a great deal of trial and error to see what works for you.

I've been diagnosed with post traumatic syndrome so I need to take antidepressants for a temporary period of time. I'm just a bit stressed because I'm not sure what impact they will have while I'm studying (my concentration is really bad lately). Should I accept to take them now? If anyone has some answers for me I'll gladly take them here or in mp.
It really depends on what they gave you and which dose. Check the info that comes with it for which are common and less common side effects. There are also some which have side effects that if when you notice them you should immediately return to your doctor, like an inability to pee. Common stuff I recall -- I've tried a few till I found one that worked best -- are drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling agitated. Check if there is a driving warning on your meds and adhere to it if so. Those with strong drowsiness you usually take in the evening, and the effect can become less bad over time. Speak to your doctor if that is the case.
Once you are on them, do not quit them before consulting your doctor on how to do this. A sudden absence of the chemicals can really mess you up.
As for your concentration, that sounds like anxiety. Inform your school. I had huge performance anxiety on tests but because they knew that it made sense to them why I'd get good grades on practical class work but then do poorly on the big tests. They may also have additional study help available for you. I know it sucks because you've had a bad experience that caused this, and now it might further affect your life, and it is just not fair that you need to go through all this extra trouble. But do it, else it will keep affecting you.
Also, are you getting therapy? I assume / hope so, but if you only have medication you are only making the situation more bearable. PTSD is also best addressed sooner than later.

First Saturday off in about six years and my glue gun is missing, my brunch guest doesn't eat French toast, and my sister's cat died last night, so she's going to be all kinds of emotional on the day we're supposed to be gawking at cosplayers.
My laptop will no longer turn on. It's about five years old, so it will probably cost more to diagnose and fix it than it will to replace it. Thankfully I have access to the house computer when others aren't using it, so I don't need to rush out and buy a cheap replacement. It's also not lighting up at all, which is counterintuitively a good sign: it's probably not the hard drive (I have a back up from a few months ago anyway just in case).
My soon to be predecessor is having a fit about the desk on the office. I don't care if she takes the desk, if it belongs to her, let her have it. But that puts me out a desk. With cash being limited, and them not having a desk available, I was told look on craigs list. Living in the boonies, most stuff is to far away to go pick up, as the nearest things listed are sheep manure. My future is not looking very bright here. Though my garden could benifit from the manure.
And yes, the desk thing seems to be a tradition, if you get into the position of requiring one, you must acquire one on your own.

By allowing him to eat my food. I bought a couple week's worth of groceries thursday. Went out of town for the weekend. Came back and everything was done. Got nothing but a sheepish 'whoops, he thought it was OK'. After a conversation and thinking things would be set straight...I went out and replaced said groceries. Yesterday. Got home from work tonight....GONE.
Fuck this. Tax season ends in April and I'm moving out. Supporting a drug addicted mentally disabled person was never mentioned as being part of the deal when I moved in here.
