Jojobo

This thread is not to rant how I want this commune back by any means. What I want to know is, where all the little tidbits of information are. Right now I am trying to figure out a somewhat general location of where this commune was located! I was always given to believe it was near Skarch but this line of thinking could be off.

I have yet to go back through old news post looking but I know the event post on the release of Ecology involved a Sun Druid, so if anyone knows that post number, please let me know, otherwise I will find it on my own soonish. Likewise Brewmeisters event post could also have some informatoin.

What I have gathered from the histories so far is this:

 - Jojobo was a jungle, not a forest, a jungle.

 - At least one of the its borders was a sea.

 - There was a shipwreck of Mugwamps there

     - The above, the Mugwamps had a traveling library with them, a LOT of history could be found in this       area, the books they had were waterproof.

 - Jojobo is unlike the other communes in where it is not located within the Basin, it is outside of the mountains.

 - Jojobo was linked to Ethereal through the Tree of Trees.

At one time someone mentioned there were only three great trees (the 2 communes we have and acklberry nexi). Is there anything in game to prove or disprove this?

Anyone else have any additional information or even theories? I'd love to hear them!

  • TMK, it wasn't near the Skarch, that was just the closest point to it. Or rather that's where we were told by the Jojoboan that the closest point was.
The guardian spirit is Brother Lion, the guiding spirit may be Father Sun, but if so then it's an awkward arrangement for sure, since he was a bit loony even before Mortaldom was a thing.
It's known that the area is very much dog-eat-dog and survival-of-the-fittest.
Likely more aggressive than Glomdoring, more ruthless than Serenwilde, but probably more honest than either as well. No need to lie, just tell your enemies to their faces that you intend to tear out their throats. And do it.
To my understanding they have a spirit tree, but it was established after the first three.
Aslaran would likely be their 'spec race' if it was to be released. (I don't think it very likely or even desirable at present) Possibly with a 'jaguar warriors' theme to their warrior guild.

Imagine the stats on a spec'd Aslaran. Jojobo supremacy!
  • Warrior specced Aslaran would be absolutely terrifying.

  • Unless the spec did little for what makes Aslaran good, and just shored up some of their weakpoints. Maybe even lowering their con to make them even more glassy cannony than usual
    image
  • Aslaran spec should be like this:

Special for Sun and Cat Totem: Upon gaining the Wicca Sun specialisation or Druidry Cat specialization, an Aslaran becomes an Awesome Aslaran with statistics changing by +1 strength, +1 dexterity, +2 constitution, +5 intelligence and +4 charisma. Aslaran who choose the mystic warrior path in communes, upon gaining the specialisation become an Aslaran Asskicker with statistics changing by +2 intelligence, +2 charisma, +8 strength, +5 constitution, +2 dexterity and +1 size.

Also, both Awesome Aslaran and Aslaran Asskicker gain the ability to do 90% of the target's current health in divinus damage whenever they use the GLARE emote. The target also ignites in flames and if the target dies within the next 20 seconds they have to pray for salvation regardless of their abilities or defences.

Nuh-uh.  You forgot the +boost to the hidden godliness stat.  That is unforgivable!  /tongueincheek

On a more serious note, Warrior specced Aslaran might be a sidegrade if not an overall nerf, they hit the perfect 19/20 combine as they are right now, more str would be subject to DR penalties, and they'd likely lose their intellect for a not too needed con bonus.

Now an Aslaran without the herb or fire malus, that would be fearsome.

The divine voice of Avechna, the Avenger reverberates powerfully, "Congratulations, Morkarion, you are the Bringer of Death indeed."

  • Bagsy first CL of Jojobo when it's released...
  • From what I read during Serenwilde's history collegium task, the three Trees were:

    Moonhart Mother (Serenwilde)
    Master Ravenwood (Gloriana and Glomdoring)
    Golden Honeysap (Ackleberry)

It's more probable that Jojobo had its own Tree rather than the Tree of Trees (which exists outside of the Prime Material for safety reasons - only its seeds [the lesser Trees] exist on the Prime to anchor it to the forests). (Aslarn's Book, if I recall correctly)

  • From the history - Book of Clangorum

"Afterwards, what first struck us was how well the jungle had repelled the attacks of Zenos. Apparently, the raising of the Maeve Consciousness and anchoring the forest through an ethereal manifestation of the Tree of Trees proved to be a very effective defense."

This point there is no nexus like what the tree trees are now. As far as I have been able to see so far in my search, there is not even a real clear time when Jojobo poofed or why.

  • It didn't poof, we just lost contact with them because it was a long way off, and it was in a pocket of habitable space in what was otherwise wasteland, if memory serves.

From what I understand, all the forests are anchored to the ethereal projection of the tree of trees. Jojobo was just the forest where it got tested. I'd thought that that was the role of the moonhart, ravenwood, and honeysap trees, but I just reread "The Aftermath" and it sounds like, no, actually, the great trees were raised after the fae taught druidry to Glinshari. It only talks about the three great trees of the basin, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Jojobo doesn't have one since the Aftermath is very Basin-centric, and presumably whenever the Jojobo druids learned druidry, they might also have raised a great tree.

We have had some contact with Jojobo, it's just been minimal because there's a wasteland between us and it and the basin's been pretty occupied with its own affairs. Event news 38 is when the "sun druid" showed up. Sun Fae appeared in event news 111. Sun druid might be something of a misnomer, since if Jojobo follows the pattern of the other three communes, it would probably be more Lion druid, Sundancer. But maybe it doesn't.

Edited because I found the events posts

So, noone's keen on discussing the fact that they were from an entirely different basin?
  • Okay, rereading things, and from the Book of Clangorum:

The Sixth and Seventh Circle discussed creating another collective spirit of lesser spirits, only this one specifically made of the spirits of the trees, in order to create ethereal moorings to the forests. This would allow forests to eventually regenerate if they suffered a fate similar to Sakarich. There was a debate I didn't quite understand about whether this Tree of Trees should create moorings on the prime plane as well, but they decided against it, saying it would make the forests too vulnerable to the Soulless. Auseklis of the Sixth commented that after the war ended perhaps the ethereal moorings could be made manifest on the prime plane. He was always the optimistic one.

So presumably moonhart, ravenwood, and honeysap are the manifestations of the ethereal moorings that were grown by Glinshari, etc, after the Vernal Wars. Jojobo has, at least, an ethereal mooring like all the other communes. Whether the physical manifestation on the prime plane was ever grown is unknown.

    Thanks for that clarification!

  • Hmm. So I assume the ethereal manifestations of the Tree of Trees are EtherMother and EtherMaster? Or is it talking about something else?

The 'ethereal mooring' is the Tree of Trees itself (the bubble is located in Ethereal Aetherspace, don't forget). The Mother, Master and Honeysap were grown from the ToT's little reproductive bits.

  • Thing is, the book is speaking of "ethereal moorings", as in plural. There is only one Tree of Trees in Ethereal Aetherspace though.

I think of it this way: the Tree of Trees is the "anchor" in Ethereal space. It itself has chains anchoring to specific points in the Ethereal plane, the ethereal reflections of the Prime Forests, which keep them alive and stable even if they are destroyed. These are the ethereal moorings talked about, and "over" each mooring the Mother, Master, and Honeysap were raised.

    Yeah.

My understanding is that it's pretty weird and complicated...ish.

The Fae(lesser and greater) were bound together and that formed the Maeve. At the same time the greater fae OTPs were formed and bound to their forests, which are in turn bound to the tree of trees.

The reflection of Mother is potentially the place where she is connected to the Tree and in turn Serenwilde is connected to her.

The physical Mother Moonhart, like the Ravenwood and Honeysap, was grown by the early Wiccans and Druids.

I guess the important note here is that it's not necessarily Ellindel or Glinshari, they taught the first Wiccans and Druids, then their students are specified as the people who raised the trees and formed the guilds and communes.

So there are many possibilities, Splinter groups of Druids and Wiccans might have ventured outside the basin and formed a commune after this. Or perhaps people from Jojobo learned these abilities on their own, so the concept of what a Wiccan is or what a Druid is might be radically different to them.

The reason they have Sun Druids might be because to them, Sun is the great spirit of their Druids while perhaps Lion ended up taking on the role of Wiccan great spirit, instead of being a coven focusing them more around being a pride?

While unlikely, the potential in the jungle is definitely exciting

  • Is there actually any reference to the guy being a "Sun Druid" ? The news post just calls him an aslaran druid.

You are right and maybe, people just assumed that these guys had come from Jojobo (myself included) but, there could possibly be better detail in city and commune posts that may have given these indications as well. The big cat, makes sense it would have come from the Jojobo area as it was known for its big cats though mainly the lions.

I find Jojobo to be quite an oddity honestly. It is described as a jungle yet when it goes into detail, it has savannah animals. If any part of this was ever opened you could probably except to be able to hunt monkies, florid birds, giraffes, gazelle, boa constrictors, and elephants.

The Aslaran Druid is Mraxin, Keeper of the Dawn.

In a thread on the old forums (http://www.lusternia.com/node/29489) Estarra does state "Ooops, my mistake. It wasn't a sun wiccan. It was a Sun Druid!"

If nature users worked like the other classes I imagine that the Sun Druids would have jungle powers rather than the current forest based druid set, but Sun being as egotistical and self-centred as he is doesn't really teach much on working with others so he doesn't have a "coven" equivalent in his spec.

Then, if you take the route that Lion is King of the Beasts (though, we should probably note that he is also absent from the Totems skill), you could have the possibility of a "wiccan" class that focuses more on animal spirits with a totems spec that is about setting yourself up as a ruler of a group to provide the coven equivalent.

I know, it's weird and strange, but well... if their druids aren't necessarily students of Glinshari and their wiccans didn't learn from Ellindel, the terms might only loosely apply to them
