Ikons are just images of things. They aren't physical objects, just a sort of picture. Gestalts are just the mental place you store your in-use ikon images.

You should think of the extra as a buffer in case someone decides to pick up a couple soup/joules and then log out, rather than getting in a huff about having wasteful extras. It's a bonus.

It is also an option to copy your guild scrolls onto letters and mail them to your partner guild leader(s) to set up in their own help files so they can better assist novices.
