Though it cost me a fair bit of money, my desktop has been upgraded to modern standards. Out with the junky old motherboard, processor and GPU from 2008, in with the i7-3770K and GTX 660.
I just woke up from a horrid dream that I don't care to share to being informed that one of my pets, a cat nearly as old as me that I've loved for years, is getting put down in 20 minutes and to say my goodbyes to him. Bleh.

I think that faulty battery might have somehow damaged my power supply. Periodic FPS drops and audio tearing, couple shutdowns that weren't expected following a patch of the first two issues, not conclusive but it makes me very concerned.

Eh, it's not so much the difficulty of the fix as the fact that something keeps going wrong. It's frustrating to fix one problem, and then have another crop up shortly thereafter.
