Recent fights have actually given me hope that combat will become more about skill/synergy (and cheese moves?) than the tired damage spam. It also makes me really sad when I turn to decap; it hurts to consciously lame. But yay combat!

The function you're looking for is probably tempTimer(), but I'd recommend picking up m&m which has good defense-raising functionality already set up in the system.
