I have horrible astigmatism too. I've been wearing glasses since I was four years old, so there's never really been a time when people knew me without them. They think I look REALLY strange if I have them off for swimming or something.

No idea! I'm not even certain that ritual is done anymore, or what exactly it was supposed to do to make the Viscanti acceptable (unlike Illithoids, Viscanti aren't actually banned).
