Metal and stone converge atop a layer of finely-woven, brightly burnished copper mesh to form this eye-catching mask depicting a chaotic collection of clockwork and mechanical parts. Covering the entire face from forehead to jawline, the mask ties around the head with a pair of sable velvet ribbons. Two large, round clock faces protrude from the eye area, carved from gleaming night-black stone with gilt numerals around the edges and twisting, enigmatic symbols etched across their surfaces. Tiny, circular eyeholes are cleverly concealed within the centre of each clock, from which extend dozens of slender, arrow-shaped hands of gold, iron, and bronze that swing and turn with each movement of the wearer's head. Below the twin clocks, the bottom half of the mask comprises a labyrinthine, metallic mass of numerous cogs, gear wheels, ratchets, and springs in many different shapes and sizes, interlocking and overlapping each other in intricate, inscrutable configurations. Across the forehead, a clockwork serpent undulates in irregular rust-red curves against the copper mesh, its body crafted from eccentrically linked gears and its fanged maw open in a silent hiss. A pair of iron spires rises upward from the temple, at once reminiscent of twisted metallic towers and of demon's horns, giving this mask a faintly diabolical air.
