If smobs were easier to kill, and became much easier to re-raise it might make for some more dynamic combat situations and make raiding the higher planes more than just people killing mostly-irrelevent mobs that cause a minor power loss.

But no matter how many new or revamped combat mechanics you add, people are not going to suddenly start joining in if they don't want to.

It sounds like some experienced players are pointing out that smobs tied to factions being made easier to kill could magnify combat and population imbalances, rather than making combat more fun.

Why tie smobs to factions? Would you mind if a few more smobs were added to the game for PvE not raids? Perhaps killing them normally demands 20+ people but they can be killed by only 5 or 10 people after going through a quest (with chances to earn dailycredits) and/or after killing 3+ other mobs in the area that are really tough but that aren't smob tough. These kills wouldn't mechanically impact faction power and the smobs wouldn't be loyals to orgs, but that doesn't mean the quests or areas can't offer lots of RP opportunities.

Depending on the XP and dailycredits these smobs and potentially related quests might provide, you still might get PvP conflict in these areas, but the difference is that it would be a lot more voluntary. No one's forced to participate because otherwise it would be disastrous for their whole faction and/or make no RP sense. 

Hi. I know I don't play any more, but there were recent (within the last year ish) changes to Supermobs *because* they were all dropped by a small number of people (iirc it was 12-15 people, including at least 2 "newbies" - people from Glom/Gaudi/unsure if there was any front Celest) - that was when the Avatars of Moon, Halli's Spheres and Demon Lords were dropped all in one continuous raid. Vs 5 people from Seren/Halli(I think there was 1)/Mag that we're about at the time. That raid actually made me cry IRL from being so helpless that I couldn't defend the DLs, let alone help in defending Spheres and Avatars. The people about at the time of that raid were a- inexperienced with combat (I.e mostly non-com or newbie) and b- unsure of their skills as still learning - basically we'd have been ZERO match to those initiating a normal raid, let alone Supermob defence. That set off the eventual proper step back from the game for me - though I had been toying with the idea of retirement prior to that raid. 

Edit: my point is, if these changes were to go through, I feel like it'd be much the same as that raid. "our side" doesn't have the numbers as "your side", even if the numbers to drop SMobs were 5-7, so while I can admire your want to change and applaud any ideas brought forth, I feel like it'd push more people away from the game vs encourage people to take part in combat and conflict. The problem isnt lack of avenues of conflict, it's skills and balance and artefacts and all the other stuff that's been brought up in previous threads that have been closed.
